Oral Presentation

1) All presentations should be prepared in PowerPoint format. 35mm slides cannot be used for the presentation. Windows data (USB-memory or CD-R) and PC can be used for the presentation. Macintosh can be used only by carry-on.
2) Each session room is equipped with Windows XP in which PowerPoint2003/2007 is installed.
3) Presentations can be either in Japanese or English, but the data should be prepared in English only.
4) All the slides must be landscape format and the figures should be simple enough to be readable from distance.
5) Presentation time
Special Session / Symposium / Workshop: Please follow the instruction of the moderator.
Oral Presentation (General Scientific Session): Each speaker has 8 minutes presentation time and 4 minutes discussion time, which should be kept strictly.

Registration of the Presentation Data

Please visit the "PC Center" in the lobby on the third floor of the Pacifico Yokohama to register and preview your presentation data at least 1 hour in advance of your presentation. If you are making a presentation before 10:00, please finish the registration either by the evening on the previous day or at least 30 minutes before your presentation.

Instruction on Preparing the Presentation Data

  • The computers in the session room and speaker ready room will support Windows PC only (No Macintosh Computers). Bring your presentation on a Windows readable USB memory device or CD-R.
  • Make sure that you close or “finalize” your presentation file when create a CD. If you omit this step, you cannot access the CD from any other computer.
  • Only the standard fonts (e.g., Times Roman, Helvetica, Arial, Times New Roman) are accepted for your presentation file, and unusual fonts may not be displayed properly on the computers in session rooms.
  • The total data capacity allowed to be brought in a USB memory or a CD is up to 20MB for the presentations for General Scientific Session, and 60MB for the presentations for Special Session, Symposium and Workshop. Please bring your own computer if the data size is over the capacity limit.
  • Sound output is available for Special Session, Symposium and Workshop, but not for general scientific sessions.
  • If you use animation, be sure to bring in your own computer to ensure no problems occur.
  • Please do not fail to bring the backup data.
To Users of Macintosh Computers:
  • You should bring your own Macintosh, since there would be technical issues that can arise when PowerPoint files created on a Macintosh are run on a Windows.
To Those Bringing Laptops:
  • Speakers using their own laptops MUST HAVE a VGA D-sub 15pin female output. If you need an adapter to convert your pin to the above-mentioned type, please supply the adapter yourself.
  • Please make sure to bring your own AC adapter.
  • The laptop output resolution should be no more than XGA (1024 x 768). The higher resolutions than the native resolution (1024 x 768) would possibly lose some information or not project by forcing the data projector into a compression mode.

Poster Presentation

1) Speakers are requested to display and remove their posters during the time below. Posters that have not been removed by removal time will be discarded.

2) Allocated time for Poster Presentation is 4 minutes for presentation, 3minutes for discussion.
3) The speaker should arrive at the booth of your presentation at least 20minutes before the presentation.
4) The organizers will provide the poster board numbers (20cm x 20cm). Each presenter will be allocated one numbered board; Speakers need to prepare the title of your abstract along with your name and affiliation, which should be 20cm x 70cm. Your poster should not exceed 160cm x 90cm. All text must be in a typeface which is legible at a distance. The purpose, method, result and conclusion must be stated with a clear layout and descriptive visual material.
5) The title, your affiliation, your name, the purpose, and conclusion must be put down.
6) No scotch tapes are usable on the board; the organizer will give pushpins to all the speakers.
