On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 6th International Symposium on Edible Alliaceae in Fukuoka, Japan.
The organizing committee decided to hold the symposium during on May 21 - 24, 2012 at ACROS Fukuoka, following the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all the people who have suffered as a result of this disaster. Since the announcement of the postponement of the symposium, we have been receiving comforting and encouraging emails from all around the world, and we would like to let you know that your concerns and heartwarming emails are highly appreciated. We extend our heartfelt thanks for your understanding and your support.
Fortunately, the symposium venue, Fukuoka and its surrounding area have no harm from the earthquake and radiation, as well as the pre and post-symposium tour sites in Hokkaido and Kyushu. We believe that this symposium has no problem being held and a lot of colleagues will come together.
The symposium will provide a leading opportunity for scientists, growers and market players from around the world to discuss and share information on genetics & breeding, cultivation, quality control and so on in bulb onion, garlic, bunching onion etc. Several novel ideas and research outcomes to solve problems through discussion and application of appropriate technologies will contribute to effective and sustainable production management, strengthen global food security and environmental protection.
We look forward to welcoming you to the 6th International Symposium on Edible Alliaceae.
Yours sincerely,
Chair
