< Notes >

1. Encryption

An encrypted browser session should as a rule be used when registering and revising presentations online in order to prevent third parties from intercepting passwords and deleting or altering presentations and abstracts without authorization. For this reason, the Society recommends the use of an encrypted browser session. If you are unable to encrypt your browser session (for example, as a result of your facility’s or service provider’s settings, the version of your browser, etc.), use an unencrypted (plaintext) session to complete the registration process. Use of unencrypted communications raises the possibility that passwords and other information may be intercepted by a third party, making the practice risky from the standpoint of ensuring security and the confidentiality of personal information. In particular, you should never use the same password as you use to access a hospital information system or e-mail account. The potential damage from a compromised password extends beyond presentations and abstracts. When using an unencrypted session, be sure to give due consideration to these risks.

2. Passwords

You will be asked to select a password when you first register an abstract. The Society is unable to accommodate inquiries about forgotten passwords, so be sure to make a note of your password and store it for future reference. You will be able to change your submission as many times as you like after the initial registration by using the registration number assigned at the time of your submission and this password. (Please note that no changes will be permitted to submissions once the deadline has passed.)
