Future Molecular Imaging of Cardiovascular System in Disease

Chairperson: Yasuki Kihara (Hiroshima University Graduate School of Biomedical & Health Sciences)
The rapid progress of cardiovascular imaging has been supported by the development of new or hybrid modalities such as SPECT/CT, PET/CT and PET/MRI. Developing novel molecular markers to trace specific cellular functions or pathological process have accelerated this progress. There are cumulative knowledge to monitor cells with specific action/mission in living animals. In near future, such cellular/molecular trafficking and networks could be identified in an organ or in a whole-body basis. Then, these progresses in cardiovascular imaging may shed light to unsolved pathological backgrounds of diseases involving atherosclerosis, ischemic heart diseases, and heart failure. In this symposium, we will learn the world summit of integrated/functional imaging in cardiovascular system in health and disease, and will also confirm pre-clinical as well as clinical horizons where the domestic researchers have reached.
