Welcome

On behalf of the organizing committee, we are pleased to announce that the WCN 2013 Satellite Symposium “Kidney and Lipids” will be held in Fukuoka, Japan, from June 5 to 7, 2013.
The ISN World Congress of Nephrology 2013 will be held in Hong Kong from May 31 to June 4, and this symposium is officially approved as one of their five satellite symposia.
The symposium will also mark the 25th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Kidney and Lipids, and it is fully supported by the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology and the Japanese Society of Nephrology.

In 1998, the Kashikojima International Symposium on Lipids and Renal Disease (Co-organizer: Professors W. Keane and S. Yukawa) was held. The proceedings of the symposium were published as a supplement of Kidney International, and contributed to our understanding of lipid-related kidney disease. However, dyslipidemia remains an important risk factor in kidney disease, and efforts to understand the role of dyslipidemia and its treatment in CKD are ongoing worldwide.
Accordingly, this symposium will provide a platform to present and discuss the most up-to-date topics in clinical and basic studies, including the KDIGO guideline and lipid related-kidney diseases, e.g., lipoprotein glomerulopathy.

To present and discuss the role of lipids, we are planning 6 symposia, special lectures, luncheon and evening seminars.

Fukuoka is a historical city located in center of the Western (Kyushu) District in Japan and is Japan’s main gateway to Asia. Travel time between Hong Kong and Fukuoka is only 4 hours.

We look forward to welcoming you to the WCN 2013 Satellite Symposium “Kidney and Lipids”.
